Pulls and knobs are the first thing anyone touches and one of the easiest things to get wrong. A long bar pull on a wide drawer, a knob on an upper door, and the same finish carried through the room so nothing looks like an afterthought.

The backsplash is the backdrop for every cabinet in the room. Glass subway tile picks up light, and a marble slab runs without grout lines. We plan the cabinets so the tile lines land cleanly at every edge.

Glass-front uppers break up a long wall of doors, and lighting inside them turns everyday dishes into part of the room. Paired with a painted hood, they become the focal point of the kitchen.

Good cabinetry hides the clutter. An appliance garage with a lift-up door keeps the coffee maker and toaster on the counter, plugged in, and out of sight when the door is closed.

A stained oak island built like a piece of furniture, with a solid leg at the corner, or a live-edge wood top on a painted island. Wood brings warmth to painted kitchens, and it is where finish quality shows most.

A navy office wall with a desk for two, a toe-kick drawer hidden under the cabinets, glass uppers lit from inside, slab doors meeting stone without a gap. Small decisions like these are what make cabinetry feel custom.
